Danny and DeAnna Calhoun have been performing as a two-piano team for the past 10 years. They have performed concerts featuring classical, sacred, or combined repertoire for churches, universities, music organizations and clubs, and retirement communities throughout Oklahoma.

Danny and DeAnna both received their bachelor degrees in piano performance from Oklahoma Baptist University. DeAnna received a Masters degree in Piano performance from the University of Oklahoma while Danny received a Masters degree in Piano Performance from the University of North Texas and also did additional doctoral studies at the University of Oklahoma.

They are both very involved with state and local music organizations. DeAnna and Danny currently serve as president and treasurer respectively of the Tulsa Accredited Music Teachers Association. They maintain a large private piano studio, Calhoun Piano Studios in Owasso, OK where they live with their three children Andrew, Taylor, and Evan. They are active members of Friendship Baptist Church in Owasso. Their debut album “Praise to the Lord” consists of the couple's own piano arrangements of hymns, choruses, and inspirational songs.

As musicians, we believe our ultimate privilege is to use the abilities that God has given us to direct worship towards Him.  We certainly hope you enjoy and are entertained by these performances of some of our favorite hymns, choruses and inspirational songs; however, our ultimate hope and prayer is that these arrangements will be used by God to minister to you in some way.  Our intention when we perform either live or through a recording is to create an atmosphere of worship and to celebrate both the majesty and grace of our Lord and Savior. 

These arrangements are in many ways a synthesis of the various influences that have been significant in our lives as musicians.  We both grew up in church and were exposed to a diverse and eclectic mix of musical styles and tastes in worship settings.  Additionally, we have been and continue to be inspired by and impressed with the talents and ministry of pianist / arrangers such as Dino, Bruce Greer, Marilynn Ham, Fred Bock, Anthony Burger, and the two piano team Stephen Nielson and Ovid Young just to name a few.  This background combined with our familiarity and love of classical music provides the inspiration for most of our arrangements. 

In a few arrangements, we have actually paired a classical theme with hymn melody.  However, in most of the arrangements the classical influence is heard and felt more in the technical figurations and harmonic language that is used as opposed to a specific theme.  You might recognize a bit of southern gospel influence from time to time as well! 

This CD, "Praise To The Lord", was a tremendously fun and rewarding project for us to put together, and we certainly don’t plan on it being the last.  We hope you enjoy listening to these arrangements as much as we enjoy playing them.   - Psalms 33:1-3
